Welcome to the Atlas of Biosynthetic Gene Clusters Myxo!
Natural products and their derivatives have been a valuable source of drugs, with a particularly large contribution to anti-infectives. Myxococcota, a phylum of soil dwelling bacteria has received considerable attention in recent years as they are capable of producing variety of natural products with high structural and functional diversity, but still their full biosynthetic potential has not been explored until now.
ABC-Myxo explores the biosynthetic potential of Myxococcota by identifying the biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) using antiSMASH (v7.0.0) and gene cluster families (GCFs) using BiGSLICE (v2.0.0), while including information on the strain taxonomy and similarity of the BGCs to experimentally described BGCs from MiBIG (v.3.1). The GCF network for each BGC can be interactively visualized. The database also allows for sequence and BGC similarity searches with BLAST+ and cblaster for identifying homologs of user-provided genes or the entire BGCs in the database.
